Well, it wasn't as bad as expected..!!
We got there in 2 hours 45 mins, thanks to Mum's girl racer driving :)
K (my cousin) looked divine, the church was lovely & the family were fine - ooh that rhymed (!)
Uncle H, the anti-gay one, greeted us with quite a bit of unexpected warmth, bless him & his wife point blank ignored me, only speaking to me on my poking and prodding, told me she would talk to me at the reception. Pah.
Reception was held at a fellows college in Cambridge - v.v. posh. Champagne and canapes, delicious 3 course meal and fun was had with two cousins from Stockton-on-Tees - they made the day far better than anticipated. Didn't follow a word of the speeches but that didn't matter. I is d.e.a.f.
Poor cousin W, K's bruv, did try and make conversation with me - couldn't lipread him for my life, so just grinned and said 'Oh, must go speak to your mother' - bless him for trying, still feel mortified that I couldn't stay and go 'pardon' 100 times.
Aunt M, who ignored me earlier, introduced me to x,y, and z - "oh, this is my niece, Emma, she does that sign language on See Hear, ever so good." Cue: Me: Gawp. 'You watched it?' 'Of course we did'. .......
Shakes head. Anyroadup, I am not too scarred :-D
Mum told quite a few cousins that P and I were getting wed and that it was a civil partnership etc, all I had was congratulations and where's her pic on your mobile and me losing my mobile round the dinner table as they oohed and aahed. Bless.
Never again will I let P stay at home again! She's coming with me wherever I go. Tough if she wants to stay home with Mr. C :)
